TRACTOR DIGITAL DESIGN MAJOR PROJECT

Watch video presentation

The brief for our major project was to use digital technology to increase foot traffic to the Art Gallery of NSW.

In addressing the brief, I asked myself the question; what if anyone could have the thrill of having art displayed at the Art Gallery of NSW?  What if there was a unique initiative that enabled members of the public the opportunity to display their work in a national exhibition.

So I came up with Upload, Australia’s first public digital art prize.

The Upload app acts as a method of art submission, a gallery of entries and most importantly, lets the artist know of the time and dates their work will be shown. When the artist is alerted of their showing times they are prompted to invite their friends via sms, email and social media.

The traffic generated by the artists’ showings and subsequent social media buzz, will be further heightened by the ever-evolving nature of the exhibition. The general public will make return visits to the gallery, as the exhibition – from one half-hour to the next – will never be the same.
